COGNISION® System
Whiplash, mTBI & Alzheimer's Bio-Markers
A concussion is a disturbance in brain function caused by a direct or indirect force to the head. It results in a variety of non-specific signs or symptoms (some examples listed below) and most often does not involve loss of consciousness. Concussion should be suspected in the presence of any one or more of the following:
• Symptoms (e.g., headache), or
• Physical signs (e.g., unsteadiness), or
• Impaired brain function (e.g. confusion) or
• Abnormal behaviour (e.g., change in personality).
The COGNISION® System is an FDA cleared EEG/ERP device used by neurologist and other specialists to evaluate complex neurologic disorders. Because it’s so easy to use it’s perfect for all doctors as part of an in-office protocol for evaluation of Altered Mental Status which can include Concussion, mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI), Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS), and Dementia including Alzheimer’s Disease. A licensed technician is not required to operate the COGNISION® System so there is no need to invest in an expensive employee. Avoid wasting money on costly technician downtime – you only pay for the tests you need, when you need them. ERP testing is recommended by the world’s leading evidence based medical guideline.
James Mathis
"This is exactly what physicians and attorneys in the PI world have needed for decades. This will now provide an opportunity to not only catch all the cases of MTB injuries which have gone undiagnosed and untreated, but also objectively document those for the direct benefit of patients and clients. At last there will be a vehicle to effectively communicate with the insurance industry all the missed MTB injuries which in the past have complicated recovery and gone uncompensated by the insurance industry."
Latha Ganti, MD, MS, MBA, FACEP Brain Injury Researcher
“In mTBI, there are numerous deficits noted especially challenges with executive functioning, which can reasonably be correlated to dysfunction (EEG slowing) in a certain lobe of the brain.” “Very excited to be part of the team, and especially excited to help mTBI victims. I have seen first-hand how a "simple" MVC can ruin their lives and those of their loved ones.”
The Brain Injury Society “In fact, motor vehicle accidents (MVA) and falls are responsible for most TBIs suffered by Americans. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 2 million Americans per year experience TBI, with 14.3% caused by traffic accidents and 40.5% caused by falls. That means some 286,000 TBIs result from car crashes annually. The actual number may be much higher, because brain injuries aren’t always immediately obvious after an accident. Indeed, TBI is commonly referred to as a “silent” epidemic because many people do not associate brain injury with concussions—the most common form of TBI.”
